Welcome to the year 1890 on Wyoming Places, People and Things.
This is the year that Wyoming celebrates 125 years of statehood. In its honor, all of our posts will be from 1890. We will try to present a picture of life in Wyoming in 1890. We will use stories, events, advertisements of merchants, and photographs from our collections and those of other libraries and archives in Wyoming and the U.S. The Wyoming newspapers will be our primary source as they are the only record of day to day life in 1890 Wyoming.
In 1890, the President of the United States was Benjamin Harrison. People traveled from place to place by train and stagecoach. The 11th Decennial Census of the United States was taken. The first "moving picture" shows appeared in New York City.
